drawtober 2020

This year I participated in the #Drawtober drawing challenge, and this was the most fun I’ve had with one of these! I really liked focusing on fewer prompts and connecting them together as parts of a story. I decided to have each prompt feature a few friends in one room of a house, and planned to have the last piece show everyone cozy inside. I also thought it would be fun to add in some animation to help bring each little scene to life. Adding in something cozy to each prompt paired perfectly with the fall harvest festival theme, and I got a little carried away with writing the captions for each, but decided to run with it. I’ve added my finished drawtobers to the sketchbook section of my portfolio (along with previous inktobers and other art challenges). I’m going to try out some other animation projects as well. For now I just want to put on a comfy cardigan and carve a pumpkin.

1. carvings 〰️
On the first full moon of autumn, Paul stayed up late to make a new friend.

2. wicked apothecary 〰️
When you need to have your spirits lifted,
ask the kitchen gnomes for their advice.
With a dash of this and a pinch of that,
they’ll pick your poison and tell you twice:
If the sun shines bright, one drop’s just right
If the moon is full, take a big spoonful

3. midnight feast 〰️
Muriel was known for her triple trash truffle crumb cakes.

4. folklore 〰️
Although not always recorded in their family spell book, the ingredients for truly enchanting self care were no less legendary.
knit one, purl two,
your favorite record & some tea will do
a bundle of kindling and a ball of yarn
a book of tall tales and your fuzzy sweater on
a wrinkle in me-time, take a little break
bippity boppity, what good company you make
now curl up by the fire til you’re all nice and rosy, think pampered thoughts and *poof* witches be cozy

5. ancient rituals 〰️
The Nip & Bone sekritty society was promised a special guest appearance at tonight’s meeting.

6. harvest festival 〰️
Only the rooms and walls in the house on Lunar Lane knew which wishes and hopes for the harvest season would come true at the festival.
