“nice breeze block!”
The Palm Springs architecture tour of my mid-century modern desert dreams. Over a long weekend trip, I found and couldn’t resist following a self-guided mcm architecture driving tour around Palm Springs, the mecca of modernism. I’ve long had a thing for mid-century style (and yes, I know this is what the internet wants me to like, but I genuinely do anyway, especially since slowly but surely renovating one and a half houses, both mid-century made, and feeling largely inspired by the look and feel of all things mid-mod).

Plus, remember that one time a couple years ago on my first visit to Palm Springs where I made my husband drive me around neighborhoods and make stops every few minutes to take pictures of doors? Our map was like a child’s coloring page and we got lost a couple times but we were committed to the cause; I was way too into checking out the bright styles + breeze block of strangers’ houses and pretend I was heading to my dreamy mid-century vacation home. After revisiting these photos I’m hoping I can fuel all this mid-century momentum into motivation to finish updating my kitchen, plus all the other projects on my long list of updates I want to make to our little 1948 cape cod. Now if only I can come up with a good reason to have breeze block in Portland.
